The name Lilla + Rose comes from two very special women: Pearl Lilla Buslaff and Gloria Rose Mueller, Sarah’s grandmothers.

They were the kind of women who made life feel warmer. They loved spending time together, and more often than not, that time was spent around food. Around family. Around recipes passed down, stories shared, and kitchens filled with the kind of love you could taste.

For Sarah, naming the bakery after them was a way to honor where she came from and the women who helped shape the meaning of home.

Who’s Lilla + Rose

A Name Rooted in Family

Gloria Rose was known for her famous buttery apple bars, lovingly called “Gloria Bars” in the family. Her baking rule was simple and unforgettable:

When in doubt, add more butter.

It’s the kind of advice that says everything about the spirit behind Lilla + Rose: generous, comforting, homemade, and never too precious to enjoy.

The name came together naturally. Lilla and Rose were their middle names, and somehow, they just felt meant to be side by side.

Funny enough, Sarah wasn’t always a baker.

During the pandemic, she started making bread for fun. One loaf turned into another, and before long, someone asked if she knew how to make sourdough.

She didn’t. But she learned.

That one question opened the door to something bigger. What started as a simple curiosity became a passion, then a rhythm, then a dream that kept growing.

From One Loaf to a Dream

A New Chapter

After 25 years in the corporate world, Sarah made a big career change and stepped fully into this baking adventure.

Lilla + Rose is now a full-time dream built on family, faith in new beginnings, and the belief that good food has a way of bringing people together.

Every loaf, every sweet treat, and every item in the shop carries a little bit of that story: the grandmothers, the pandemic bread, the first sourdough starter, the leap of faith, and the love behind it all.

Welcome to Lilla + Rose

Lilla + Rose is more than a bakery. It is a tribute to family, a celebration of simple joys, and a cozy little place where homemade goodness meets small-town community.

We’re so glad you’re here.
